Sean Tang

Hi! I’m an Undergraduate Student studying Computer Science & Engineering at UCLA.

Interests

I’m currently advised by Professor Yuan Tian of UCLA. We’re currently working on a project exploring applications of LLM for automated specification generation from natural language. Previously, I worked on auditing the security of keysight test equipment.

I’m also advised by Professor Weijian Yang of UC Davis, where I worked on DeepCaImX, a compressed sensing-based neural network for neural calcium imaging segmentation.

I’m also a member of the Flight Software Team at ELFIN. I was the Flight Software Lead for 2024 - 2025, where I worked on the ELFIN’s entry into NASA’s Tech Leap UPIC Challenge. Before that, I worked on ELFIN’s old SF2 build system, and flight software for the SF2.

Experience

I’m currently interning at NVIDIA for summer 2025 on the Autonomous Vehicles Platform Team, working on their Data Recording System.

I previously interned at SpaceX on the Starship Software Team, working on the software responsible for performing checkouts tasks on the Raptor Engine. I’m lucky to have been part of the team during the historic Flight 5.

Prior to that, I interned with Mainspring Energy for two summers, working on various software components of the Linear Generator.

UCLA

I was a Learning Assistant for the Winter 2025 offering of CS118. I developed the lua dissector for the course project, wrote reference solution to past Final Exam for students, and led discussion section 1A.

I was one of the club signatories of the UCLA Linux Users Group for 2023-2024.

Instead of implementing in HTML, I’ve ported the design to Jekyll so I can write pages up in Markdown (which should help with inserting \(\LaTeX\) snippets, for example)
